The goal of the project was to create a 3D animation at least 30 seconds long that could be an advertisement or a narrative. All of the animations in the video had to be our own and had to showcase at least one of the 12 Principles of animation. I used Autodesk Maya and used some free pre-existing assets.
I chose to make my animation inspired by Star Wars, featuring an X-Wing fighter being chased by TIE fighters. Since the ships are the stars of the show, I chose to set it on a planet instead of outer space. That way I could more easily manipulate the mountain backgrounds to make the ships look like they were moving in a 3D space.
